Via an email alert from the NC Dept. of Health and Human Services:

Dec. 1, 2024 marks the first anniversary of Medicaid expansion, a life-changing milestone for nearly 600,000 North Carolinians who now have affordable health coverage through NC Medicaid.

THANK YOU to the many partners, community-based organizations, local advocates and other trusted messengers who joined us in spreading the word about expansion. Your commitment and support helped nearly 600,000 newly eligible North Carolinians get covered and get care. These efforts included hosting NC Medicaid events, attending community fairs and expos, sharing bilingual presentations and toolkits, coordinating resources and partnerships and more.

Governor Cooper and Secretary Kinsley will also honor the occasion by hosting an event at East Carolina University on Wed., Dec. 4.

For updates, resources and ways to get involved, visit Medicaid.nc.gov. Please continue to help spread the word and encourage people to visit HealthCare.gov to apply for health coverage, including Medicaid, as we look forward to 2025.

The email also encourages readers to check out the enrollment data from the Medicaid Expansion Dashboard, and share how their county has benefited from expansion on social media and other outlets.
