Health is Wealth Summit 2024:
Closing the Life Expectancy Gap in Western North Carolina

The WNC HPI is proud to be a community collaborator supporting the first Annual Health is Wealth Summit, which will take place Saturday, October 5th 2024. All community members are welcome to attend for free! Register today at MAHEC.

The morning session will feature plenary presentation from Somava Saha, MD, MS founder and leader of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s 100 Million Healthier Lives (100MLives) initiative. Her plenary address will help set the stage for how poverty shapes health and wellness and the real potential to address it together. The morning will also include a panel of local leaders discussing factors driving poverty, bright spots, and opportunities to mitigate it here at WNC — lunch and tabletop discussions will follow.

The afternoon event will feature a Community Resource Expo from 1:00-3:00 pm. During the expo, community members can connect with health and social resources, participate in a data walk, and learn about opportunities to impact policy.

The event will close with a call to action by community leaders and motivational words from Dove Dupree.
